I said it 132400 times and I'll say it again: It's all in the practice
and self teaching. Get some tutorials and get some patience and will
and I"m sure you will start improving in no time.

Best way to improve is to start. Your contributions are welcome here,
no matter what skills you have. Head over to www.spriteart.com and
check out the tutorials, because they will point you in the right
direction from the very outset. That's my advice. The rest is practice,
patience, and fun!
And yes, recreation of the egg into a creature is a little boring.... FINALLY got my computer back, now I'll have a go at pixelling a creature from one of these eggs...

Well deal with it. o_0
I honestly don't
know why you made it so big even if it is a trademark that your work is
big or whatever....bizarre. Could've easily made it egg-size... ?
Okay now that my
initial thought of holy crap it's ginormous has passed, I think the
colours are a bit garish but I like the dithering style and the top of
the egg's shape. It's a bit overwhelming looking at it so huge though
y'know.

pshaw... yeah. Why would you make an egg the size of Kirsty Alley and
expect someone to comment on the shading technique. I mean, c'mon. When
you make it that big you kinda "out" the quality factor, and emphasize
quantity.

Way back up (ok, not really) to the egg of monastic proportions...
something that big has millions more room for texture and stuff.
There's oodles of pixels in something that size... use them!
And to make it look more transparent-y, bail on the black outline. Make it... not black... iunno. Something lighter.
And does your egg have a name, so-lou?

I didn't expect or desire for people to comment on the shading, this
thread isn't WIP it's finished pieces for colab. and I don't see why my
particular piece is now getting critiqued just because it's a bit
larger than the other works. Honestly, all other digital artists other
than pixellers work MUCH bigger, so why do you all live in these tiny
boxes? It can't be THAT shocking to see a piece of this size because
compared to ANY OTHER FORM OF ART OUT THERE, it's still TINY.
whatever, I've removed it, the thread can continue without the disgusting taint of my attempt at originality.

Saiklor - Why did you remove it? Just because a couple of people
commented on its sheer sizedoesn't mean it's not appreciated.
Personally, I think it was cool. You've definitely your own style and
you shouldn't have to change it for other people. Put it back up so
others have a chance to do something with it. If there is any more bs
surrounding it from other people, there will be reprocussions I am sure.
I don't want to have to do it but, if this continues on, I will lock
this thread and you guys can forget about the eggs altogether.

Dude, it was fine I liked it. I loved the shading, and didn't mind the
size at all. Some one could have made a huge bird/monster for that one.

Geez, talk about
uptight. Re-post your egg and stop complaining about people's reaction
to the size. If people are all making "regular" sized artworks and then
someone walks in with this mother canvas piece, of COURSE people will
say 'whoa that's big' before they even think about the colours,
style etc. So calm down and get over it. Not a big deal.
And it seems you didn't even read all the praise you got about the
dithering style etc. What do you think Napoleon? "GOSH!!!"
Back on topic, I am pixelling some cross-breed creatures at the moment and more eggs as well. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with next.
And yes Saboteur, my egg's name is in my post right under the egg.

So-Lou: I will not repost my egg. (and check your PM's)
And I think that insulting me is pretty off-topic, don't do it again, and if you must, PM me, that's what it's there for.
And since I won't be reposting the creature someone else should do the
plasma egg, it's got a really great palatte and loads of room for
interpretation. T'would be a pity if it weren't made into a critter
just because of this......fiasco.

Here's a creature for So-Lous 5 min. egg.
5 min. egg, 10 min creature. I like it. The shading could use some work but I don't really feel like going back to change it.

"wow your egg is big"
"FINE! You wont have to look at my HORRIBLE egg anymore!" *takes egg away and pouts*

.... Oh look, EGGIES!
I think I'm gonna breed some of these creatures... I've always wanted to do something like Dr. Frankenstein...
Quote:
Henry
Frankenstein: Look! It's moving. It's alive. It's alive... It's alive,
it's moving, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, IT'S
ALIVE! Victor Moritz: Henry -- In the name of God!

@ Garage: Nifty looking creature.
Ookay, so I tried something a little different this time..
XD I dunno WHAT inspired me to do that. I was thinking.. dinosaur..
then I was thinking, head with huge teeth.. then I was thinking
snowman... XD So it all just kind of molded together with that
inspiration in mind.
And from the snowman and dinosaur concept, I got the idea for this egg!
heh.. it's an ice egg with.. what's that inside? *gasp* *ooh* *aaah* XD :P

Saiklor: 'I

I just thought I
would say what I liked about it after my comment of 'it's huge' because
you seemed to offended that that was the first comment. So I tried to
redeem myself by commenting about the other things other than its size.
But there's no pleasing you.
Saiklor:
'Honestly, all other digital artists other than pixellers work MUCH
bigger, so why do you all live in these tiny boxes? It can't be THAT
shocking to see a piece of this size because compared to ANY OTHER FORM
OF ART OUT THERE, it's still TINY.'
Pixel art is an
artform that works primarily on small canvas's because essentially they
are tiny dots put into place 'one at a time' and usually used for
mobile phone games (small canvas), web graphic animations (small),
icons (small) etc. Of course, comparing your egg to ALLLL the artforms
out there, it will look small. But that's like comparing an abstract
portrait to a real-life portrait - OMG ONES ALL FUNNY LOOKING AND THE
OTHER LOOKS REAL. That's because they're from different forms of art. ;)
Saiklor: 'whatever, I've removed it, the thread can continue without the disgusting taint of my attempt at originality.'
And the oscar for the most dramatic performance goes to.... Listen,
one, nobody even dissed your egg in the first place. Secondly, there
ARE other huge pieces of pixel art out there. Splatpixels work for
example. And you know what someone says to him? "Whoa that's huge" and
he says "yes" and they say "huge and SEXY" - because they are. If you
can't accept people's first reaction (which isn't even negative in the
first place) then you might find taking actual criticism, even harder.
^_^
Now to try and
make you understand the drastic action of your taking down your egg
completely, here are some nice things said about your egg that you may
have missed when getting pissed off for no reason:
So-lou said: 'I like the dithering style and the top of the egg's shape.'
Pixelblink said: 'Personally, I think it was cool. You've definitely your own style'
TakeOut said: 'Dude, it was fine I liked it. I loved the shading'
Lastly, Saiklor,
I don't think my 'insult' of saying you behaved in an uptight manner by
taking down your egg was in any way harsh, cruel or pointless. You
really just need to laugh this off and acknowledge that you got
offended for absolutely NO reason. I even tried to make my post sound
upbeat with a Napoleon Dynamite quote. NAPOLEON DYNAMITE!
Aleiav worded my
exact reaction to this. So please, Saiklor - I'm not trying to be
vindictive or patronising in any way, and am simply trying to get you
to lighten up. We all liked your egg!! So bring it back into this
thread post haste. And someone will creature-ise it. ;)
Now back on topic
(so sedge won't get the flying monkies onto us) Garage Inc. that is a
fantastic little creature !! I may just have to cross-breed him with
something! AND that ice egg is MIIINE!

Sorry for the caps but, I think people disregarded my last statement
about locking this thread up altogether. Do not reply to this note
either.

putting all my time into my totem scrambling to finish it before the

I wanna see some new eggs, come on people!
